3.3.2 Class A, Radial head, Composition P. The class A,
Composition P rake shall be similar to figure 4. The tines forming the head
shall be separated at the raking end and joined together at the base of the
head. The molded rake head shall include a ferrule which extends over the
handle. The head shall measure a minimum of 22 inches (55.9 cm) in width and
have a minimum of 21 tines. The rake handle shall be a minimum of 46 inches
(1.17 m) in length.
3.3.3 Class b, Semiradial head. The class B rake shall be similar to figure 5.
The tines forming the head shall be separated. at the raking end, grouped
together and securely fastened to a steel ferrule at the handle end. The
ferrule shall extend over the handle. The head of the rake shall have a steel
spreader bar attached to the tines to keep them evenly separated and to hold
the tines in a fixed position at all times. The spreader bar shall be located between
the tips of the tines and the ferrule. A backing spring or similar device to
provide constant pressure on the head shall be secured to the ferrule, with the
spring prongs attached to the spreader bar, to relieve pressure at the stress
point on the tines. The rake handle shall be a minimum of 47 inches (1.19 m) in
length.
3.3.3.1 Size 1, 18 inch head width. The size 1 rake head shall measure 18 to 29
inches (45.7 cm to 50.8 cm) in width and have 18 to 22 tines.
3.3.3.2 Size 2, 22 inch head width. The size 2 rake head shall measure 22 to 26
inches (55.9 cm to 66.0 cm) in width and have 21 to 26 tines.
