3.3.4 Double - Rib aluminum head. The head shall have a
double-rib and be formed from extruded aluminum. The teeth shall be as shown in
figure 6. The handle shall be powder coated and made to fit in between the
double-rib of the head using one self-locking bolt and nut. TWO solid aluminum
braces shall encompass the handle and connect to the head with self-locking
bolts and nuts. The head shall be available in the following sizes as
specified: 24 inch (61 cm), 30 inch (76 cm), 36 inch (91 cm), 42 inch (107 cm),
48 inch (122 cm). The head shall be constructed with one rounded tip tooth per
each inch of head size. The head shall have a minimum depth of 4 inches (10.2
cm). The rake shall have a 66 inch (1.68m) handle with a 5 inch (12.7 cm) vinyl
grip.
3.4 Finish. All metal surfaces shall have a painted, plated,
lacquered, or enameled finish. Metal handles shall be plated, anodized, or have
a painted finish. Wood handgrips shall be smooth and shall have an applied
coating of varnish, lacquer, or polyurethane.
3.5 Identification marking. The rakes shall be marked with the manufacturer’s
name or trademark. The use of an adhesive-backed label shall be acceptable.
3.6 Workmanship. The rakes shall be free from ragged edges, cracks, holes,
pits, and other defects which would affect the appearance and serviceability of
the item.
3.7 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be
considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units,
providing they fall within tolerances specified and all other requirements of
this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and
those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a
request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product
is acceptable.
